We called you to action. And the Oak Park Temple community delivered.
We asked for monetary donations; you gave generously.
We asked for mentors and tutors; we have been overwhelmed by the positive response.
Last Sunday, my wife Beth Sauers spent the day at the home of Felice Bernstein as you all delivered many items to donate to the Syrian refugee family of six whom we are welcoming to our community. Just five days after a national election that divided our country, according to Beth, there was a common refrain as people dropped off their donations. “This just feels right,” many of you remarked.
This past Thursday, our fearless leader Annika led a mentor training at the Temple. We had a great turnout.
With just over two weeks until our family arrives, we ask you to continue your action! You can still purchase gift cards, bus passes, and other items this family will need. Sign up here.
And please contact Annika Rothbaum if you and your family can donate your time as mentors or tutors. With enough interest, we will organize a second training session.
Thank you for all you are doing!
