Oak Park Temple welcomes the renowned educator and author Peter Hayes (Ph.D., Yale, 1982) on Sunday, April 30.
Professor Hayes recently retired after 36 years teaching at Northwestern, where he specialized in the histories of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust and, in particular, in the conduct of the nation’s largest corporations during the Third Reich.
Author of 12 books and winner of numerous awards, Professor Hayes currently serves as the Chair of the Academic Committee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. His recently released book Why?: Explaining the Holocaust is being lauded as a “coherent explanation of why such ghastly carnage erupted from the heat of civilized Europe in the twentieth century still seems elusive even seventy years later.”
Professor Hayes is an enthusiastic and engaging speaker whose classes have been filled to capacity. This is our opportunity to be educated as well. We are fortunate that Professor Hayes will be addressing our community on April 30.
MameLoshn, Oak Park Temple’s Yiddish singing group, will also perform before and after Professor Hayes’ lecture.
This event is open to the public at no charge.
