What do pomegranates, quince and citrons all have in common?
They are all traditional foods for the harvest festival of Sukkot. Join OPT member and author of the new cookbook The Joys of Jewish Preserving Emily Paster for a Sukkot-themed Talk and Tasting.
We will explore the fascinating culinary traditions for Sukkot among both Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jewry with a special emphasis on preserves, such as jams, jellies and pickles. Did you know, for example, that Russian Jews traditionally made a preserve out of their etrogs following Sukkot? Emily will explain this and much more fascinating culinary history.
The talk will include a tasting of some of the recipes from Emily’s book. Following the talk, Emily’s book will be available for purchase, the proceeds from which will benefit OPT.
