It’s not to late to read a good book!

Starting in January, the Sisterhood will begin a four-part book club involving women, Judaism and the life cycle. Our first meeting will be on Thursday night, January 13th, at 7:30 at the Temple library. We will be discussing Rachel Calof’s Story: Jewish Homesteader on the Northern Plains, by Rachel Calof. Susan Ruffolo - a librarian at the Oak Park Public Library and a professional facilitator – will lead our discussions. She is sure to provide interesting insight and wonderful topics for us to discuss.

This short memoir tells the true story of a Russian immigrant woman in the late 1800’s who arrives in America for an arranged marriage, only to find herself in North Dakota living in a 12x14 foot shanty with her unappealing in-laws. The book is available to borrow from both the OPT library as well as the Oak Park Public Library, or to purchase at either Barbara’s Bookstore, or at amazon.com from the link on this page. Do not miss this book or our discussion.

For more information, or to RSVP, please contact Sheila Pont at 524-8933 or swpont@comcast.net.
